About Jeff's Siamese Home: Your Trusted Siamese Breeder

HOW IT ALL STARTED

My history with Siamese cats goes back further than this cattery does. Long before I ever thought about breeding, I was just a guy who loved this particular breed for the same reasons most Siamese owners do — the intelligence, the vocal nature, the almost dog-like devotion they show their people. I had a Siamese growing up who used to sleep curled around my neck like a scarf every single night, and who would meow at the door the second she heard my school bus pull up outside. That cat set the bar for what I thought a pet relationship could look like, and every Siamese I’ve owned since has only deepened that appreciation.

Eventually, that appreciation turned into something more intentional. I wanted to be part of preserving what makes this breed so special — the traits, the temperament, the connection — and doing it responsibly, in a way that put the cats’ wellbeing above everything else. That’s how Jeff’s Siamese Home came to be. It started small, with one queen and a lot of research, and it’s grown over time into a program I’m genuinely proud of, but it has never once left my home. That was a decision I made early on and never reconsidered.

THE FAMILY BEHIND THE CATTERY

This is very much a family effort, even though my name is the one on the website. My spouse handles a lot of the day-to-day care alongside me, especially the overnight feedings when a litter needs a little extra help in the early weeks. My kids grew up around these cats, and they’ve each developed their own little roles — one of them is basically in charge of “kitten socialization,” which mostly means she lies on the floor and lets kittens climb all over her for an hour at a time, but I promise you that’s genuinely valuable work when it comes to raising a well-adjusted kitten. We even have a family dog who has been raised alongside multiple litters and has become something like an honorary aunt to every batch of kittens that comes through — gentle, patient, and endlessly tolerant of tiny paws swatting at her tail.

I mention all of this because I think it matters. A kitten raised in a home like ours isn’t just getting used to people. They’re getting used to family life — the noise of dinner being made, kids doing homework at the table, a dog snoring in the corner, a doorbell ringing, footsteps on stairs, the television playing in the background. That’s the environment most of these kittens are going to live in for the rest of their lives, so it only makes sense to raise them in that same kind of environment from the start.

OUR APPROACH TO BREEDING

I take a slow, deliberate approach to breeding. I’m not interested in high volume, and I never will be. My breeding queens are chosen not just for how closely they match the traditional Siamese standard — the sleek body, the striking blue eyes, the pointed coloring — but for temperament first and foremost. A gorgeous cat with a difficult personality doesn’t serve anyone well, especially not the families who are going to be living with that cat’s offspring for the next decade or two. I prioritize even, affectionate, people-oriented temperaments in every cat I choose to breed from, because that’s the trait families consistently tell me matters most to them.

My queens are never bred back to back without adequate recovery time between litters. I follow a conservative breeding schedule that puts the health and longevity of my breeding cats first, which sometimes means waiting longer for a particular litter than some families would prefer. I think that tradeoff is always worth it. A queen who is rested, healthy, and unstressed produces stronger, healthier kittens, and she also gets to live the long, comfortable life she deserves as a beloved pet in our home — because that’s what she is first. My breeding cats aren’t retired to a shelter or sold off once their breeding years are over. They live out their lives here, with us, as pets.

HEALTH TESTING AND VETERINARY CARE

All of my breeding cats are seen regularly by our veterinarian and are kept current on the care appropriate to their age and health status. I work closely with my vet on anything relevant to Siamese-specific health considerations, and I don’t cut corners when it comes to preventative care. Kittens receive age-appropriate veterinary attention before they ever go to their new homes, and I’m always transparent with families about what’s been done and what will still need to be scheduled once the kitten settles in with them. You’ll find the full details of what’s covered on our Health Guarantee page, but the short version is this: I treat every kitten’s health the same way I’d want to be treated if I were buying a kitten myself — with total honesty and zero shortcuts.

RAISING SIAMESE KITTENS THE RIGHT WAY

From the moment they’re born, kittens here are handled daily. I know some breeders wait until kittens are a certain age before introducing much handling, but I don’t subscribe to that approach. Gentle, appropriate handling from day one — combined, of course, with plenty of respect for what a newborn kitten actually needs, which is mostly warmth, safety, and mom — helps kittens grow up comfortable with human touch in a way that pays off for the rest of their lives.

As they grow, kittens are gradually introduced to solid food, litter box habits, toys, scratching posts, household sounds, and eventually other pets. By the time they’re ready to leave, they’re not just physically weaned — they’re behaviorally ready for a new environment. They know how to eat on their own, they know what a litter box is for, and they’ve already experienced enough of a “normal household” that a new one won’t come as a shock.

FINDING THE RIGHT FAMILY

I’ve said this elsewhere on the site, but it bears repeating here: my priority isn’t finding a home for every kitten. It’s finding the right home for every kitten. I ask about your household. I ask about your experience with cats, especially Siamese specifically, since they’re not quite like other breeds in terms of how vocal and people-oriented they are. I ask about your schedule, your other pets, whether you have small children, and what you’re hoping for in terms of personality. Some kittens in a litter are bold and outgoing. Others are a little more laid back and cuddly. Matching the right personality to the right household makes an enormous difference in how smoothly that kitten’s transition goes, and in how happy everyone is five years down the road.

I don’t work with brokers, resellers, or pet stores. Every kitten from Jeff’s Siamese Home goes directly from my family to yours, and I stay in the loop for the life of that relationship. I want updates. I want photos. I want to hear about the funny things your Siamese does that reminds you exactly why you fell for this breed in the first place, because I guarantee I’ve experienced the exact same thing with that kitten’s parents.

NATIONWIDE BUT STILL PERSONAL

Even though families from across the country have welcomed kittens from our home, I’ve worked hard to make sure that “nationwide” never means “impersonal.” Every family, whether local or a couple thousand miles away, gets the same level of communication, the same honesty about health and temperament, and the same follow-up support after the kitten arrives. Our Shipping Options page walks through exactly how we handle long-distance placements, but I want you to know going in: distance doesn’t change how much I care about where these kittens end up.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. If you have any questions at all — about our cats, our process, our home, anything — please reach out. I’d genuinely love to talk with you.
